Position Summary
Black Collection Apparel is seeking a creative, professional, and story-driven Communications & Journalism Intern to support interviews, podcasts, written content, brand storytelling, public relations, and media communications.
This internship provides hands-on experience covering real-world business operations, apparel campaigns, HBCU culture, Greek organization initiatives, Juneteenth events, vendor experiences, podcasts, documentaries, and community-focused storytelling. Interns will help capture and communicate the stories behind the brand through written, digital, and multimedia content.
The ideal candidate is passionate about journalism, storytelling, interviewing, media communications, content writing, and cultural storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Journalism & Storytelling

Conduct interviews with interns, customers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, creators, and event attendees.

Assist with writing articles, captions, blogs, press releases, podcast summaries, and campaign storytelling content.

Help document behind-the-scenes business operations, events, and company growth initiatives.
Podcast & Media Support

Assist with podcast planning, guest coordination, interview preparation, and production support.

Help create written summaries, promotional content, and social media captions for podcast and video content.

Participate in documentary-style storytelling projects and media campaigns.
Communications & Brand Messaging

Support development of brand messaging and communication strategies across social media, Shopify, email marketing, and promotional campaigns.

Help maintain a professional, engaging, and culturally aligned brand voice.

Assist with organizing communication calendars, interview schedules, and media assets.
Research & Trend Monitoring

Research topics related to HBCUs, Greek organizations, entrepreneurship, fashion, media, and Black culture.

Monitor media trends, storytelling formats, and audience engagement opportunities.

Assist with identifying opportunities for public relations, collaborations, and community engagement.
Qualifications
-
Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field.

Strong writing, interviewing, and communication skills.

Interest in storytelling, media production, podcasts, branding, and cultural content.

Familiarity with social media platforms, content writing, or podcast/media production preferred.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
