Compensation:

Position Summary

Black Collection Apparel is seeking a creative, innovative, and trend-aware Fashion Designer Intern to support apparel collection development, product design, creative direction, and fashion research within our growing apparel, branding, and media company.

This internship provides hands-on experience working on real apparel collections connected to HBCUs, Greek organizations, Juneteenth campaigns, homecoming season, cultural initiatives, and fashion-forward streetwear concepts. Interns will contribute to product development, creative brainstorming, design mockups, trend analysis, photoshoots, and collection planning from concept to production.

The ideal candidate is passionate about fashion, culture, storytelling, branding, and design innovation.


Key Responsibilities

Design Development & Creative Direction

  • Assist in developing apparel collections, graphics, and fashion concepts for seasonal campaigns and product launches.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on HBCU culture, Greek life, Juneteenth collections, streetwear, and fashion trends.

  • Create sketches, mockups, mood boards, and creative concepts for presentations and product development.


Product & Material Research

  • Assist with selecting garment styles, color palettes, fabrics, trims, and accessories for production.

  • Research fashion trends, consumer preferences, and emerging streetwear and apparel styles.

  • Help evaluate garment quality, fit, and production feasibility.


Sampling & Production Support

  • Collaborate with production and design teams to prepare products for printing, embroidery, and promotional campaigns.

  • Attend fittings, photoshoots, and product review sessions.

  • Support organization of design files, mockups, and product development materials.


Campaigns & Brand Support

  • Assist with styling and creative direction for photoshoots, marketing campaigns, and social media content.

  • Support preparation for vendor events, fashion activations, and apparel launches.

  • Contribute creative ideas for new collections, collaborations, and promotional campaigns.


Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Merchandising, Fine Arts, or a related field.

  • Strong creative and visual design skills.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or other design software preferred.

  • Interest in fashion, culture, branding, streetwear, and apparel development.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
